North West Limousin Breeders excel in Roscrea

Breeders from the North West Limousin club area had a very successful day in Roscrea at the Premier sale held on March 6th.

North West Limousin Club Bulls won four of the 12 classes including Junior champion and also achieved three of the top prices in the sales ring. The showing segment was held the evening before the Sale and the judge was Mr. Hefin Jones of the noted Garnedd herd in Wales. The sale met with a clearance rate of 76% and a price range from €10,800 to €1,900, averaging €3,750.

Claiming the Junior Champion rosette was “Cappaduff Lorenzo” a Loosebeare Fantastic son from Joe and Jennifer Moran, Claremorris, Co. Mayo. Lorenzo is no stranger to rosettes having been very successful on the show scene in 2016. Amongst his successes were North West Calf Champion 2016 and Overall Reserve Junior Male Champion at the International Limousin Congress.

Lorenzo caught the eye of the judge – Hefin Jones and was duly purchased for the Garnedd herd for €6,000. Lorenzo’s price was the fourth highest on the day.

“Bos Luke” an Ampertaine Commander son bred by Joe Collins, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Roscommon sold for €6,200 the third highest price on the day. Joe had a great day for his first visit to Roscrea selling bull with his second bull Bos Koe selling for €5,500. Koe is an On-dit son out of a Cerberus cow.

Richard O’Beirne, Tuam, Co. Galway parted with “Millburn Knowledge” for €5,100. Knowledge is a son of Fieldson Alfy and the Mas Du Clo daughter Millburn Vera and placed second in his class.

Peter Holland, Clones, Co. Monaghan purchased 18 month old Knowledge.

Jimmy Ryan, Pallasgreen, Co. Limerick purchased third prize winner “Liverpool Kian” from Michael Graham, Boyle, Co. Roscommon.

Kian has Kaprico Eravelle, Cloughhead Ernie and Shire Milton in his lineage. €4,600 was his purchase price.

The Wilodge Cerberus son “Millburn Knightsbridge” sold for €4,200. Knightsbridge was bred by Richard O’Beirne, Tuam, Co. Galway. His dam is the Sympa daughter Millburn Felicity.

Knightsbridge was purchased by Desmond Fulton, Ballymoney, Co. Antrim.

The Kaprico Eravelle son “Liverpool Kenny 2” sold for €4,100. Kenny was bred by Michael Graham, Boyle, Co. Roscommon. He has five star ratings in most traits.

John Power, Carrick on Suir Co. Waterford acquired third prize winning Kenny.

Bertie Mannion, Curraghboy, Co. Roscommon sold “Ballyline Kalvin” for €4,000. Kalvin has Gleannari Everest, Mas Du Clo and Oakley Politician in his sire stack. A UK based customer purchased this first prize winner.

The Neuf son “Meelickaduff Kopiliot” sold for €4,000 to James Clifford, Caherciveen, Co. Kerry. Kopiliot was bred by Michael Hester, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon.

Placed fourth in his class he had been shown in 2016, amongst his successes was first prize at the North West Club Calf Finals in Glenamaddy at the International Limousin Congress event.
